Volunteer
The Sharing Shelf was founded by a volunteer and relies on volunteers to achieve its mission. Individuals, families, business groups, students, and special needs adults are critical to our efforts. They sort and package clothing in our warehouse, organize collection drives in the community, pack and distribute backpacks, and help run at Teen Boutique. Each year, hundreds of volunteers log more than 5,000 in our warehouse while 200 volunteers each season ensure the success of Teen Boutique.
There are countless ways you can get involved!
To Get Started
To volunteer in our warehouse, download our Volunteer Application and email this back to us. Help us get to know you and your interests. We will then set up a mutually convenient time for a short training and orientation during our volunteer hours. The first time you help, we ask for a 2-hour commitment so you’ll have time to put your new skills to work. Once you have been trained, you can use our registration link to sign up and come back. No minimum time required.
Guidelines

We welcome volunteers from youth to adult. We require pre-registration for all volunteering and no walk-ins. Volunteers must be at least 10 years old and children ages 10-14 years old must be accompanied by a parent who actively volunteers. Teens ages 15- 17 who volunteer independently must bring a waiver form signed by their parent or guardian.
Group Volunteering
Adults (over 18): We can accommodate group volunteers of up to 40 people. We ask for a two-hour minimum commitment and recommend up to 3 hours. We can adjust our hours to accommodate groups of 10 or more.
Covid Update: Small group volunteering is available but we are not accepting any large groups pursuant to State guidelines
Youth (ages 10 and older): We can arrange small group volunteering during alternate hours at a mutually agreeable time. Please contact us for more details.
Covid Update: Children must be at least 14 to volunteer at this time.
Community Service
We recognize that many schools have community service hours for students. Students should bring all paperwork with them when volunteering.
