Do you need a little convincing? Here is our pitch to you.
The Sharing Shelf, founded in 2009, is Westchester's first and leading clothing bank for children. We are dedicated to addressing clothing insecurity and meeting the basic material needs of infants, children and teens county-wide. We are focused on the whole child, from birth to 19.
In 2022:
We filled 4,365 Wardrobe Packs - a week's worth of seasonally appropriate clothing
Distributed 1,650 backpacks packed with age-appropriate school supplies for children and teens
Provided 173,682 menstrual pads and tampons to community organizations, schools, food pantries and in our Wardrobe Packs.
Supported more than 120 nonprofits, schools and hospitals with clothing, hygiene items, period products, diapers and other items
Hosted over 800 volunteers in our warehouse and engaged many more in the community who organized drives, filled kits, and took home projects.
Held 12 Teen Boutiques for more than 600 teens
In 2023, we opened the first free "store" for teens in times of crisis and emergency to select their own clothing.
We hope this has convinced you and ask that you support us on the ballot as Best Local Charity. Here is that link again.
