Community Packing Day - Backpacks to School

Each summer, volunteers join us in our warehouse to pack new backpacks brimming with supplies for children and teens living in poverty. We are excited to welcome back volunteers, safely masked, in our open, airy warehouse for our 11th annual Backpacks to School initiative.

According to news reports, families with school-age children will face sticker shock when they head to their local store to buy supplies. The Covid pandemic has disrupted supply chains, leading to higher prices at the register. Parents of kindergarten through 12th grade students are expected to spend just over $848 per household on supplies, including electronics. This poses an additional burden for families who are struggling financially.

The Sharing Shelf is committed to ensuring low-income children have the tools they need. With your donor dollars and volunteerism, we can buy new supplies and provide 1,500 children with the items they need. To donate: https://www.aplos.com/aws/give/TheSharingShelf/backpackstoschool
