Coats for School

School-based social workers across the county told us that their students were coming to school on cold winter days wearing layers of sweatshirts because they did not have a winter coat.

The Sharing Shelf responded and launched a pilot program, Coats for School, in November 2021 to address this need. Under this program, we provide schools with a high percentage of students living in poverty with an on-hand inventory of new and excellent condition used coats in a range of sizes.

Each school selected receives an initial supply of winter coats and hangers. They can apply for replenishment as needed.

We need YOUR help! We need an additional 250 coats each month (through January 31, 2022) in sizes 5T through Adult XXL.  Visit: Old Navy, Gap, Amazon, Target,  or your other favorite store. You can schedule a drop-off or ship to: The Sharing Shelf, 47 Purdy Avenue, Port Chester NY 10573.
